Book this small-group trip (max. 8 persons) and you’ll get a fine selection of foodie experiences of the Istrian peninsula – Croatia’s best culinary region. Also, we didn’t cut your short on the nice places for some casual sightseeing like the old town of Rovinj, the hilltop town Motovun, and the Amphitheatre in Pula.
Highlights
Day 1 – Casual sightseeing and a delicious farmhouse lunch
Choose a pick-up spot and the journey can begin! The first stop is in Poreč. Here you have the opportunity to visit amazing golden early-Christian mosaics at the Euphresian Basilica which is a UNESCO world heritage site. Then, you’ll visit Grožnjan, a village that was completely abandoned after World-War-2 and revitalized with the help of artists from all around Yugoslavia. Romantic stone-cobbled alleys and colourful workshops around every corner make this tiny town a must-see location in Istria. Afterwards, you continue to Motovun – the mightest hilltop town in Istria. Join the truffle tasting and try the most expensive mushroom in the world. Walk the panoramic city walls and admire Istria in all its glory. The last stop is at our favourite Konoba (local word for Trattoria). Lovely homemade pasta, daily dessert, salad from the garden, pearly local wine, and fresh fruit juices – mmmm! You return in the late afternoon.
Including comfortable transport in a modern van, licensed English-speaking guide, 2-course lunch incl. drinks, truffle tasting in Motovun, visit 3 towns (Motovun, Grožnjan, Poreč)
Day 2 – Istria noTourist Wine Tour
“noTourist” means that the mood of this tour is friendly and laid-back. Both, the wine enthusiast and the wine amateur will find their rightful place on this trip. You don’t have to pretend that you know wines and yet you can dig deeper if you are curious about how wine is made in the Istrian wine region. You will not be taken to “tourist-trap” wineries. The quality of the wine is as important to us as the atmosphere of the winery. Join and see for yourself!
After your designated pick-up, you’ll drive to the first winery to get a proper introduction into the Istrian wine scene. Then, you’ll sit down in our favourite Istrian Konoba (Italian’s would call it Trattoria) to enjoy a delicious 2-course lunch (incl. wine) made by using only organically grown ingredients. Afterwards, you’ll head to the second winery to dig deeper into Istrian winemaking. Return is in the late afternoon, early evening hours.
Including comfortable transport, personal driver, visit 2 wineries, taste a minimum of 12 wines, delicious 2-course lunch with wine (of course).
Day 3 – Truffle Hunting and the smallest town in the world
In the morning, you’ll start your journey with a guided truffle hunt in a forest near Motovun. Here you will smell, taste, and hunt the truffles. You’ll go crazy when Višnja and her mum start to cook freshly hunted truffles in front of them and the whole terrace becomes a cooking show with a smelly outcome (a good one, though)! Afterwards, you’ll go for a visit to the world’s smallest town called Hum. Here, you are about to have a very traditional drink – Rakija! A legendary Istrian beverage that unites spirits since the Celts were on this magical peninsula. You’ll return back to your accommodation in the afternoon.
Including comfortable transport, personal driver, truffle hunt, 3-course truffle lunch with optional participation in the cooking process, visit Hum, Rakija tasting.
