The truffle roads are still pretty undiscovered in inland istria and hence preserving an authentic charm of local village life. The forests and hills around Motovun are protected areas and home to the most expensive mushroom in the world – the white truffle. Join a small group tour and discover amazing landscapes paired with homemade local cuisine.
Start your day in the smallest town in the world – Hum. The guide will open a door of a tiny chapel for you exposing medieval slavic scripts invented in the 9th century. Continue your journey through istrian truffle forests along exciting hillroads all the way to venetian outpost Oprtalj. Afterwards you enjoy a homemade lunch cooked for you at an organic wine farm near Motovun. After lunch you will join a truffle tasting in Motovun learning more about Tuber Magnatum Pico – the most expensive mushroom in the world. After a scenic walk on Istria’s greatest city walls in Motovun you head for the east coast to Labin. Here you will enter a small old town palace owned by descendents of a noble venetian family producing one of the best olive oils in the world as well as istrian sparkling wine (made with the “champagne” technique). After this exciting culinary special you head back to your accommodation on a scenic ocean drive along the east coast of Istria. Return is in the early evening hours.
Everyday all year long.
